My Story
I set up the business in 2009 after looking after my own parents for several years. It started when my father went into hospital for a hip operation and my mother was struggling with heart problems.
We needed help but didn’t know where to look. We didn’t need a full time carer just someone who would go in regularly to check that they were safe and that they were managing to feed themselves and look after the house.
At the time I was a stay at home mum with a 4 year old who was just starting school so I had time to devote to my parents. I became in effect their housekeeper. I kept the house clean and tidy, did the jobs that they no longer felt up to and was just there to look after them.
This of course didn’t occupy me full time so in 2009 I decided to launch my business, offering the same services to elderly people in a similar position.
Having lived through the situation myself I completely understand the needs of elderly people who want to continue living independently in their own home but don’t yet need a complete and full carer service. The business’ purpose is to allow elderly people to continue enjoying life, living with dignity in their own home.
Examples of my services for a few customers
I began working for the couple initially just to help with housework as the wife had been diagnosed with Motor Neurone disease and could not do it herself anymore. As her health deteriorated I was asked to increase my hours to help with other tasks, so enabling the husband to continue working. After his wife passed away, the husband asked me to step in as a more regular housekeeper,cook and personal assistant which I’ve been doing for several years now.

I started working with Mr T. initially just as a cleaner.
As his mobility deteriorated, he started to have regular falls.
I was only doing 2 hours a week but this has changed now to one hour every day.
I would do bits and pieces around the house, his washing and ironing, make him drinks and just provide him with company and a friendly, smiling face.
A single gentleman (In his late 80s)
Mr and Mrs H were my very first customers. I was recommended to them and started simply as a cleaner. As time passed my role expanded to helping with a whole range of other tasks around the house.
We both looked forward to our weekly visits and a good catch up on each others news.
